Mount the sound calibrator on the microphone. Select the physical input to calibrate (e.g. S1) where this microphone set is connected in the Input menu.

Manual calibration:
Select "Manual" calibration and turn the calibrator on. Select e.g. 1 kHz and 114 dB. The spectre of the calibration tone will be displayed. Tap on this spectre picture and select a network (C) or the corresponding 1/3rd octave frequency using the right/left cursor buttons. The sensitivity of the analyser can now be adjusted up and down in 0.1 dB steps until the expected dB level is obtained. A line diagram is also shown giving the historical values of calibration results. The Red line in this diagram is the calibration results obtained in a calibration laboratory, while the blue line represents all the field checks or calibrations that are performed by the operator.

Using a Sound Calibrator

Please be aware that something may be wrong either with the transducer or with its settings if it is a need to change the sensitivity with more than a few tenths of a dB.

Automatic calibration - remains to see.
