The internal battery package in the Nor150 is intelligent. It will tell you the status of the battery.
When the instrument is driven by a Solar Cell system it is imporant that the internal battery in the instrument has got enough power to be able to boot the instrument properly. It is therfor recommended that the instrument powers down at a higher level than normal. Select 'Solar Cell' if powered by a solar cell system, otherwise this setting should be 'Normal'. See the Solar cell menu for operation.
In order to save power the GPS should be turned off if not required.
Several timeout functions may be set to save energy (and reduce temperature) in the Nor150. The Backlight and Display picture generation takes some power and should be turned off while not used.
Tap on the display to get the picture back on the screen after these timeouts. Different settings are available for Battery and External Power (Mains) operation.
If the instrument is left unattended and unoperated, it will switch itself off after the predefined time. However, this does not happen if the instrument is measuring (including being paused during a measurement). The automatic switch off feature may, however, be disabled if required.
These time settings are relatve to each other. I.e. if you set one minute on all three settings, the instrument will power itself off after three minutes.
